Why This Watch Matters
Here's a great Seamaster De Ville with all the mid-century modern flair you need in your dress watch collection.
The Full Story
The Seamaster line has been a pillar of the Omega brand since it first launched in 1948. In the collection's 70-year history, it's taken on many forms, from a versatile, everyday timepiece to a robust diver's tool. Here, we have a handsome example showcasing the model's dress watch roots: a 1960s Seamaster De Ville. Though it later became its own collection, the De Ville began as an extension of the Seamaster line.
The dial has applied baton hour markers that work nicely with the classic pencil-shaped hands. The Omega name and insignia also appear on the dial, with the signature carrying over to the crown as well. All in all, these solid-gold Seamaster De Villes from the 1960s offer a great value and can be quite versatile. This one features a "non-lume" dial and hands, which is a detail that we continually look for in watches from this era for easier, less-worrisome wear.
Sometimes it takes a simple Omega Seamaster like this one to remember why vintage collecting is so fun; there are just so many watches and so many options. This solid-gold watch with screw-down caseback and classic styling offers a great value.
We paired this Seamaster De Ville with our Dark Olive Calfskin Strap for that gold and green combination we love so much. The resulting look is extremely versatile, especially for a simple gold dress watch.
