Why This Watch Matters
One of our favorites, an early Carrera, this one with a black dial and 30-minute chronograph.
The Full Story
Heuer introduced the dual-register Carrera ref. 3647 alongside the "first Carrera," the triple-register, in 1963. In the catalog, it was dubbed the "Carrera 45." In 1970, the "Carrera 30" hit the catalog, another dual-register, manually-wound Carrera, this time with a 30-minute chronograph. When it comes to these manually-wound Carreras, black dialed examples, denoted by an N for Noir at the end of the reference number, have long been the favorite of collectors. This watch is in really excellent condition– this is a perfect opportunity to add a legendary chronograph to your collection.
With a case made by Ervin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA) and an innovative tension ring that left the dial cleaner and easier to read, Jack Heuer's 1963 creation of the Carrera remains one of the greatest designs in the history of wristwatches.
We paired this '60s Carrera with our textured taupe watch strap to play off of that deep black dial and stainless steel case.
